Pouchfin has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
On your iPhone
Your catches, photos, stickers and places are stored only on your iPhone.
Place
Place is rounded to about 1 km. You can hide it on any catch, or turn it off.
Species lookup
Species lookup is optional, and Pouchfin asks your permission first. Only the cut-out fish picture, with the name of the region or country you picked (never your location), is sent over HTTPS to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic (a model provider) to suggest the species.
The picture is not stored by our server, and Anthropic does not use it to train models under its commercial terms. Your photo, place and notes are never sent.
Daily limit
To count the daily limit, the app sends a random device ID kept in the iPhone Keychain. The server keeps only the ID and a counter per day, and deletes rows after 2 days.
Purchases
Pro purchases are handled by Apple. The server checks the signed App Store transaction to allow the Pro limit and does not keep it.
Your choices
You can turn lookups off in Settings. Delete all data in Settings removes everything from the iPhone.
Children
Pouchfin is not directed to children under 13.
